Recording and Publishing

First thing you will need to even start with podcasting, you should be able to prepare your ‘materials’:

Since it is podcasting, you need something to record with, but most importantly a topic. If you don’t know what to talk about, then how are you supposed to create a podcast? So, first choose a topic that you really enjoy talking about and want to let other people know about your passion on that certain topic.

Then you need a device that can record your voice, such as voice recorder, your computer, cell phone etc. If you want to make a video podcast then you should have a video camera in order to tape you.

Now, you should be ready to record! First of all, relax and calm. Then read out loud your script many times until you get use to your voice, because many people don’t like their voice when they hear on it from a recording device etc.

Many computers have the software and program already installed in your computer, however if your computer is quite old, you need a headphone with a microphone in order to record your voice. You could use cell phone, but many cell phones record voices in not so good quality, and you want your listeners to hear what you are talking about.

If recording with video camera, you better sit somewhere where is enough light, because your viewers would not really appreciate if you were sitting in the darkness and only hearing your voice…its kind of strange, don’t you think so? According to your topic, you can be imaginative and creative with your backgrounds and other effects! For example if your topic was teenage love, then you could decorate your background with hearts, cupids etc…

After you are done with recording, it is good to add background music, so by using Windows Movie Maker or any other similar program; you can add music, and effects.

In order to publish your podcast, you can use websites like iTunes, www.mypodcast.com or you also can post on MySpace.com, Facebook.com or on your own blogs.
